The new issue of the Human Givens Journal includes a comprehensive review of CEP’s conference last year entitled ‘More Harm than Good: Confronting the Psychiatric Medication Epidemic’.
In addition, the journal contains an article which covers the recent BMA report on prescribed drug dependence, for which CEP contributed evidence.

What a remarkable article. But, there should be no clash over our continual suffering when told by our addiction specialists, psychiatrists, GP’s or mental health workers that it’s OK for us to ‘cold turkey’ from our psychiatric drugs, as was the case for me. Multiple times. Only, when they refuse to listen, or believe us for that matter, to what we’re experiencing such as psychiatric withdrawal drug-induced: manias, crippling depressions, suicidality, homicidality, and psychosis it only widens the gap from what is the truth.
Dr. Peter Breggin hit the nail on the head, actually they all did, but when he said it’s better to be brain damaged and off the drugs, as I am from ‘taking my medicine’ for 35 years, ECT’s, and multiple ‘cold turkey’ withdrawals than it is to remain on the drugs and so iatrogenically ill that I couldn’t function anymore in any sense of the word. Everyone, everywhere needs to read this amazing article if they want to know how much we, the patients, suffer at the hands of our psychiatrists.
