What is the reason to exclude neuroleptics (“antipsychotics”) which can also produce physical dependence, due to receptor changes – in principle not different from antidepressants?
I agree with you Peter.
Neuroleptics – Similarly overprescribed. Multiple brain, endocrine, cardio-vascular, skin and catastrophic metabolic prescription-induced major toxiicies and injuries;often irreversible.
Reduced life expectancy by 15 – 25 years.
Overwhelming evidence of worse long term outcomes: – physical, psychological and social.
All in addition to dependence and immense long term further injury on withdrawal.
Vital to include “antipsychotics”.
Also – why no reference to the commonest, most serious and life threaten ending toxicity of SSRIs SNRIs Neuroleptics and other psychoactive prescription drugs: AKATHIA?
Most serious and life threatening ADR to these prescription drugs: – AKATHISIA.

The overprescribing of Lorazepam and a 3 wek withdrawal has had an horrific emotional, social and financial impact on our lives with my wife ending up as my full-time carer. There is a great need for proper withdrawal centres to help and give respite to carers.
