A petition has been set up calling on the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Government to take action to appropriately recognise and effectively support individuals affected and harmed by prescribed drug dependence and withdrawal.
The petition can be accessed here:

Is access to government-run support groups going to provide real help? What has been produced is support in using defunct experts and failed ideas. In my experience. government run efforts promote ideas and “experts” that failed long ago. Real science must replace ad hominem and preconceived ideas that claim to explain the damage and how to reverse it. Treatment of today is clearly false because people remain very sick no matter what government may pay.
A support effort does give the issue a face though,
Good points j.hill.
Our aim with this Scottish Parliament public petition is to raise press, public and political awareness of the issues – and indeed the serious harm that individuals are experiencing with these prescribed drugs. People from any country can sign the petition – and comment if they wish – until it is due to be formally lodged on 10 May 2017.
The ‘evidence’ of the harm is all around us. Medical recognition of the cause of the evident harm seems to be a loud silence … or conveniently classed as ‘Unexplained Symptoms’?
There is no support at the present time. Hopefully if support is to be provided it will be informed by the experiences of the many patients who have experienced the extreme difficulties of withdrawal from mind-altering prescription drugs. It is the lived experience of patients that is the best guide, not the views of professionals or “experts”.
