I am so pleased my son has refused medication because of the side effects.

My son’ life is ruined because of the side effects of psychiatric drugs. Not only do antidepressants and benzodiazepines cause dependency – so do antipsychotic drugs which was omitted by the BMA. Over 50% of people are not able to metabolise these drugs efficiently which causes toxic side effects. Because of the similarity between these side effects and the original condition symptomology, is perceived as a worsening condition. Doctors then go on to prescribe additional psychiatric drugs which makes patient’s toxic symptomology worse. A simple genotyping test (used in some conditions in general medicine) would identify patients who are not able to metabolise psychiatric drugs efficiently so avoiding further depression, psychosis, mania akathisia, suicide, hallucinations and delusions. There are no UK public bodies’ who are prepared to progress this knowledge let alone share to the public or doctors who choose to serve the public.
The lack of transparency and deception results in the perpetuation and rise in mental illness. This needs to change.
